Loot Bag

My brother and his family just got back from Manila a couple of days ago, and while I look forward to their stories and pictures, I’m 5x happier because they were able to sneak bring in 10, yes, 10 Kowloon House Siopao bola bola, about 5 bags of vacuum-packed bagnets, 3 bags of vacuum-packed Vigan longganisa, 1 can of burong mangga, 3 canisters of Picnic Ketchup Fries and an SM grocery bag full of my favorite chichirya and pastillas. Heheheeee.

I would have requested them to throw in a few orders of Siomai with bottled chili garlic but that might be pushing it a little bit. :lol:

hey, what’s bagnets? and what does burong mangga look like? and how the hell did they sneak in siopao without it getting spoiled?

Jen, Bagnet is an Ilocano version of Lechon Kawali (I think, anyone care to clarify?) i didn’t know this until J’s sister’s hubby sent us some before. Burong Mangga is pickled green mangoes, slices of pucker-inducing awesomeness. As for the siopao, my IL’s brought it the night before my brother left, so give or take it’s less than 24 hours in transit, in a somewhat cool temp, then straight to my fridge. So far it doesn’t taste funny, so I’m still in for the kill, hehee. :D

Keep this in mind when you go back to MNL! I remember you mentioned Erynne eats siopao like there’s no tomorrow! :)

Hello Abie! Binilin naman ni J yun longganisa, talagang titipirin nya since we were told it can last for six months!

My brother’s strategy was pinaghiwa-hiwalay yung mga pagkain, para in case ma-random check ang isang bagahe, medyo saved na yung iba. thankfully they weren’t checked! :)

I’m surprised about the ketchup fries. Isn’t Picnik imported?

Hi Em, I’ve been searching for years, and I couldn’t find one in any of the grocery stores I’ve gone to! They only have those regular shoe string potatoes, pero not Picnik brand.

Kowloon siopao bola-bola - yummy! Is this the one with salted egg too? Bola-bola wins over asado hands down as far as I’m concerned… and the bagnet…oooh, I can hear my tummy rumbling now!
